Apple Watch serial number not recognized when trying to trade in

Apple Watch serial number not recognized when trying to trade in. Each time I get to the serial number and add the serial number listed on the inside of the watch where the band sits, and try to verify, I get an error message saying it’s not correct or something along those lines
