How to verify AirPods

It seems the AirPods here have either failed very badly, or they are counterfeit.

If this was a new purchase from Apple or an authorized reseller, contact Apple.

As for serial numbers or other “checks”, there can be one legitimate AirPods device with a particular serial number, and there can be zero or more copies of that same number associated with counterfeit devices. Making a few thousand copies of the same legitimate serial number is well within the capabilities of an entity willing to build and sell counterfeit devices, after all.

That alert generally indicates that they are NOT genuine AirPods.

You likely have counterfeits.

Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support

Try to check your AirPods coverage by entering the serial number which has given behind your AirPods box. Also, check the AirPods case lead for the serial numbers.

Keep in mind that serial numbers can be counterfeited as well.

If an online check comes up as valid, it means that the serial number is valid, not necessarily that the hardware you purchased is genuine.
