Delete Photos not Deleting Across Devices

I am signed in to the same icloud account on my iphone and MacBook Air.

I have turned on icloud photos for both.

I spent over 6 hours deleting photos and videos from my iphone but they are not deleting from my MacBook Air.

My 'syncing' on the MacBook Air stops for breaks and then doesn't sync anymore. I have over 75,000 photos on my MBA and am down to 63,000 on my iphone. However, they're not syncing.

I have tried many different strategies based on previous shares.

Please help. Thank you.

Photos not syncing properly across devices A day or two ago, I added a couple of photos to iCloud on my new MacBook (13 in, M4, 2025), and deleted a few at the same time. For some reason, however, these changes have not synced to Photos on either my iPhone (13 Mini) or iPad (10th generation). All these devices are on the same WiFi network and are logged into the same Apple account - so I can't understand what the issue is. I'm also only using just under 50GB of 200GB iCloud storage. However, if I add or remove a photo to/from iCloud on my phone or iPad, that change is reflected on the MacBook, so I think it's on that device that the problem may lie; I don't recall having this issue on the 2017 MacBook that my new one replaced. But my iCloud settings on the MacBook all seem to be correct. If anyone can tell me where I'm going wrong, I'd be very grateful!

Syncing and removing duplicate photos from Mac and iPhone with iCloud I'm a new user of iCloud. I have approx. 5,000 photos on a iPhone 13 Pro Max from 2022. I have approx. 10,000+ photos on a 2012 MacBook Pro (running OS Catalina). I'm nervous about the prospect of maintaining so many photos on an old MacBook Pro (storage <5GB of 250GB). I purchased the 200GB plan with the intention of syncing photos and videos. The iPhone synced without a hitch. The MacBook pro did not: "Upload paused for 10,800 items. Not enough local storage". a). I'm not sure how to proceed with the MacBook pro iCloud sync b). I know for certain I had overlap with photos on the iPhone and on the MacBook (saved on both without iCloud). But when I go to delete a photo on say, the MacBook, I get the message about deleting on all devices. How can I delete duplicate photos from the MacBook (to create storage to enable the upload sync) without the risk of deleting the photos on all devices? c). I will also move Photos library to external storage drive in the coming days when I get a device that doesn't house my backups. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Deleting photos from iPhone Hi! I am trying to delete photos from my iPhone without deleting them from my Macbook. I want to leave iCloud sync'd, so I airdropped the photos to my Macbook's downloads and made a new folder. I want to confirm that even without unsyncing my iCloud, this means that if I permanently delete them from my iPhone, they will remain in my Macbook downloads. From my understanding, iCloud sync means it won't show up on my laptop Photos app anymore, not that they will be deleted from my Downloads as well. I saw many similar questions but very ambiguous answers. Any insights appreciated!
