I am looking for recommendations for malware and antivirus recommendations
I am upgrading my Mac, so would like it for the latest
I also have an iMac on Sonoma 14.2.1 that is 2019.
Intego has slowed it to a crawl using the free version so before I update and add one of their security plans, I thought I would see what the forum recommends

You will find many here will recommend you just go with the security features that the computer's own system software provides. They will also recommend you do not install any constantly scanning software which may well slow down your computer and interfere with the system software.
If you want to scan periodically you can use a tool such as Malwarebytes, but honestly, just being smart about what you download and run goes a lot farther. I haven't seen a Mac virus since 1995.
