scan qr code: only notification is Apple Maps wanting to map the location.

I have my iPhone (iOS 16.7.5) camera focussed on a QR code hoping to scan it. the only notification which appears is Apple Maps wanting to show location and directions. I haven't been able to get rid of the Apple Maps notification; it prevents the SCAN QR CODE notification from appearing.

I have an Apple 13 used to scan an Amazon QR code. I can focus on the code but the notification I'm expecting shows an Apple Maps notification not related to a returns notification.
