Wired controller setup on Mac mini with Monterey OS

im using monterey, and all the guides talk about pairing a controller and i only have wired controllers. i assume i am doing something wrong, can someone point me to a guide on wired controller setup? it is an original xbox controller "the duke" if that is important. i bought the mac mini used off ebay and for some reason, they took out the wifi/bluetooth card. so bluetooth is not an option for me. thank you!

Here is some info that I found that may be helpful to you about the Duke controller -

PCGamingWiki: XBox Controller: The Duke Scroll down to the section entitled Hardware Adapters for info about USB adapter cables. It appears the controller also requires drivers. And while there was a driver for OS X/macOS, it appears that it was no longer updated past macOS Catalina.

Unfortunately, no that’s Xbox one not the first Xbox I know it’s confusing. I have an Xbox one but that’s a Bluetooth controller and my Mac mini doesn’t have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi? I bought it used from a school which had removed them. So I need to use a plug-in controller. I also have a generic USB controller that says it works for windows or Mac but when I plug it in it doesn’t notice it. Thank you for trying. Anyways, I appreciate it.

That’s what I thought too, but they sell to institutions and education where it is disabled at the board level. Trust me I’ve already tried to fix that and that’s the answer I got from Apple. So whether it’s just broken or it was disabled, purposely by Apple for an institution, I do not have it in order to circumvent your argument let’s just say I want to use a wired controller. Is there anyway to use a wired controller? I can’t find any drivers, and when I plug it in the Mac does not recognize it.

Thanks for the help but that is an Xbox one controller using Bluetooth. I have an original Xbox controller and also USB controllers that I’ve had for a long time and that also works fine on my older G4 and Mac Pro systems. Unfortunately, those systems were lost in a fire, and so I haven’t been using my Mac to play any games for a long time now, and I would like to do it again I do have wireless controllers for my Xbox 360 and Xbox one but I don’t want to use those and I can’t use them because the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth no longer functions or was disabled by the factory because my Mac mini came used from a school

That's hard to believe. Check Apple > About This Mac > System Report > Hardware > Bluetooth (and Network > WiFI). If they show there, they are in your Mac.

I was a system admin in education and I never saw any Mac with disabled hardware. You could disable the services if using MDM or Workgroup Manager to manage the Macs; but that can also be reversed by the MDM/Workgroup manager.

So does this mean there is no way to use my wired controllers? I have an original Xbox “the duke” controller, which is my favorite as well as a regular USB controller. That is a replica PS3 controller and also I have a flight stick. All of them are PC and Mac compatible but I no longer have software for them and they are not good controllers they are cheap Chinese controllers, so there is no name for me to look up to find any drivers I shouldn’t say they’re not good they’re really nice controllers. They came in a set but they have no name for me to search for any software and I can’t find any software for the original Xbox controller either. Is this because wired controllers cannot work on Mac? Does it have to go through Bluetooth in order to work?
