bluetooth pairing continuously fails and tells me to forget device

I'm trying to bluetooth pair my iPhone with a device that I have previously "forgotten". I put my iPhone in discovery mode, turn on the other bluetooth device in pairing mode.

On my iPhone I receive a confirmation number pop up BUT IMMEDIATELY it disappears and iPhone gives a pop up that I need to "forget device" with the discovery of my other device that I was trying to connect with. I hit "forget device" and then iPhone returns to discovery mode.

This behavior continues every time I try to connect with that device. Has anyone seen and/or fixed this behaviour?

The “forget device” may mean to “forget” the connection on the device itself. If it is a medical device it can only be paired with one smartphone for security reasons. So you must remove the phone it was previously paired to from the device itself. The manual or website for the device should have instructions on how to do that. And many other BT devices have the same restriction, of being paired once only until it is reset.

Thank you Lawrence.

As to the device type, my iPhone was connected to the device until yesterday when I decided to tell my iPhone to "forget device". I didn't think it would be so hard to get it back connected.

As to the devices full pairing table, I will definitely check on that.

What confuses me is that the indication on my iPhone is that I appear to receive the connection number from my device BUT it almost immediately disappears and a dialog box comes up in its place that the connection failed and I need to "forget device". I keep yelling at the iPhone that I "ALREADY" forgot it but the iPhone doesn't like that :-)
