Converting exFAT SSD into APFS

I have some original files and Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro projects saved in both exFAT Sandisk SSD drives and G-Drive.

My Logic library currently runs in the G-Drive.

I would like to re-format these drives into APFS.

Is it relatively safe to temporarily move all of the contents out of the exFAT drives, and keep them in an APFS SSD, reformat the exFATs, and then move them back without issues or data loss?

There should not have any problem doing this. Just make sure you have good backups of the data you want to keep.

One thing to be aware of, however, is that if you change the name(s) of the drives you may have to reconnect your libraries in Logic Pro & Final Cut. So, advice is to make sure your reformatted drives have the same names as they originally had.

Although I'm a bit surprised that you could have Final Cut projects on an ExFAT drive in the first place.
