how do I add a trendline to a chart in numbers? the help guide tells me to select an option in format that is not there

Hi retiredguy,

It is not under the Format Menu. It is on the Format Panel on the right. Click the Series Tab.

Using the Charting Basics template at File > New in the menu:

First click the series within the chart and then look for the Trendline dropdown under the Series tab.
