To be honest, AppleCare+ is the same as any other insurance where it is only worth it if you need it. The most important benefit of the AppleCare+ plan is for coverage of accidental damage with a small deductible. Others will take a different approach and take the gamble without AppleCare+ knowing they will buy a new one with possibly additional features if their current one does break. It does come to a point where continuing to pay for AppleCare+ on an older device does not make sense, when you can purchase a new one with a lot more capabilities.

The number you called is the correct number, I was just making sure you initiated the call and did not answer one that could have been spoofed or called one from a fake support site that appears sometimes when browsing the web.
