Unable to choose existing music folder on external hard drive on Apple Music

Just completed a fresh install of Sonoma, now I want to make a folder on an external hard drive my Music folder. This folder contains all my music files.

When I press Option click to start Apple Music and select 'Choose Library' I select the folder on my external drive and I am only allowed to Cancel, the Open option is greyed out.

Any tips?

When you use the Choose Library option you are supposed to locate a valid .musiclibrary package, or an iTunes .itl library file to be converted to the Music format. If you don't have the .musiclibrary package from before your fresh install then you will need to use the Create Library option to make a new one, into which you can then import your media.
