You can change the format that the Camera uses to save your photos to JPG by changing the format to Most Compatible. You do this by going to Settings > Camera > Format.

Thank you, though it’s not the camera thats the problem . I have all my pictures saved as jpegs and the iPad converts them automatically id i try to save then from my photos to a stick. Which of course i need to do in order to access them on a different machine. It’s so annoying as this format is not supported on my older Mac which has all my software.

Hi Trish, same here.

Just started tinkering with this two weeks ago, since at this point i have no other way to have iPad and Mac communicate. Spent about $60 to get the correct plugs in order to download to a flashdrive. First day it did transfer files as IMG, at least i could see them in my laptop. Second day it started with the heic files, maybe one of 6 still transferred as IMG, but the rest cannot be opened.

Now they are all heics, and i have tried three methods. 1j Saving them to Files On my iPad, 2) saving them to a folder in Files on my iPad, and 3) dragging them one by one to the USB name on the left column. None of these works anymore.

in camera sertings i followed the advice given, set as MOst Compatible, have iCloud turned off, photo transfer in Automatic.

Where did Mac Jim ID go when we need him? Or anyone who can help? Why is this happening?

Thank you one and all!

Nancy
