Intel MacBook: Erased the entire hard drive. How can I get the OS (Catalina) reinstalled? I have another MacBook of the same vintage.

The Recovery software is gone along with all else. Is there a way to use the other MacBook to get the erased one working again?

MacBook Air 11″, macOS 10.15

You should be able to access the online macOS installer through Internet Recovery Mode by using Command + Option + R.


Since you have access to another compatible Mac, you can also use it to create a bootable macOS USB installer using the instructions in this Apple article:

Create a bootable installer - Apple Support
