Transfer password from one machine to another - Facebook wobbles

Yesterday Facebook had a wobble and I thought I had to reset my password, so I did. The problem is that the password reset in FB is broken (not accepting code, plenty of other users with the same problem), so now I have:

  • Two iOS machines with an active connection (using the old PW)
  • One Mac with the 'new' password that can't log in
  • The new PW has propagated everywhere (keychain and the iCloud PW on all devices)
  • There is no way to get the PW history (I've looked at forums and i don't have Time Machine)

So: is there a way for MacOS to 'use' the PW currently used by my iOS devices?

Or any other bright ideas...

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.7

Report the issue to Facebook ask them what the resolution is.

Sorry about this but you seem to be contradicting your self

If the PW on the iOS devices have the Old PW, how can " The new PW has propagated everywhere (keychain and the iCloud PW on all devices) "

On any of my 4 computers and 1 iPhone with Keychain in iCloud enabled on all devices

What would appear in Keychain in iCloud would populate onto ALL Devices

So the Old PW on my iPhone would have the Newer PW.

That's exactly what is happening: as long as I have an open session on the iOS devices, they will work fine. If I need to log on again (say after an OS update) then it will switch to the new PW and lock me out.

I thought Keychain would keep a history of PWs as it keeps a history of events, but this doesn't seem to be the case...

Any pre-existing PW already saved to Keychain and you attempt to change that password to something else

On the 4 machines and 1 IiOS devices I use

It will offer the UpDate the keychain to the New PW.

Thusly, the New PW will sync across all devices affiliated with the same Apple ID Account used on all devices signed into and using Keychain in iCloud.
