Apple Pencil for I pad pro 9.7”
can I use a lightning to usb adapter for the newer Apple Pencil on a iPad Pro 9.7”? I can’t afford the old one it’s like $100 but the usb-c ones are readily available

The first and second generation - and USB-C Pencils - use an entirely different pairing and charging interface. Your iPad Pro 9.7" will only support the first generation Pencil.
