Adding pins to iPhone messages.
Why does Apple only allow 9 pins on my iPhone 12 Messages? This is the page I'm referencing

This is a user to user only forum, so Apple isn't here. All we can tell you is Apple does indeed limit you to 9 conversations you can pin, but since we aren't associated with Apple, we cannot tell you why they chose this. If I were to guess, it would likely have to do with the amount of space available on your iPhone screen and to pin more might make seeing your message list more and more difficult. But that's just a guess.
