Beats Studio Buds auto-activating Voice Control against my wishes

I have a pair of Beats Studio Buds which apparently ignore settings re: Voice Control.

When the Beats Studio Buds are connected to an iPhone 11 (OS 17.3.1) which has been configured to disable all of Siri and Voice Control, and the user is wearing them, they still listen for "Hey Siri" and then place calls to random Contacts, without confirmation from the user before placing the call. Also, the person saying "Hey Siri" can be someone else in the room, not even the active wearer of the Buds.

What little I have been able to find in the Community suggests that I should "try a different headset". Which is helpful as far as it goes.

I have tried:

  • reset Beats Studio Buds per Apple Support article
  • forget/reconnect Buds
  • Beats Updater

I am seeking a solution that involves keeping and using my earbuds without this very annoying malfunction.

Beats Studio Buds Model A2513 SN FL6GQ68R0RP3 Version 1B204.

TIA
