Question

SolidWorks on MacBook Pro

Hi, I am an electrical engineering student and was told that I will need to run SolidWorks in the future. What would be the best computer and way of running SolidWorks?

SolidWorks appears to be a Windows only application. You could run it in a virtualization platform, but performance may vary. You should ask your school about what device they recommend.

The SolidWorks web site shows some native Mac support, at least for Intel macs:

However, you cannot buy an Intel Mac new today if that is all they support.

I strongly concur with celliot147's advice to check with your advisors as well as SolidWorks; their processor requirements are lacking information about Apple Silicon (M-series) support.
