The type of cover to use to not to cause damage to the camera

I have a phone cover which although transparent forms a covering over the back camera I want to know whether I should continue using it or change it because someone told me that it can cause scratches on the camera and reduce the picture quality please tell me what should I do?

It will reduce the picture quality only if the camera lens cover stays on during the picture taking process. If it is one of those cases that the camera lens cover slides out of the way during picture taking, then that should not affect the quality of the images.

Other than the above, the final decision is yours.
