I tried one but im still very scared because i spent almost an hour and 30 minutes creating shortcuts for almost every app on my phone and i really would rather not have to do that agin so if i delete a photo the shortcut stay the same?

So these shortcuts are alternate launchers for the apps, but bearing icons based on your own photos?
I would suggest you perform a little experiment to determine the answer for yourself:
Take a test photo of anything you will recognize later (maybe a table or chair).
Create and save a test shortcut that you don't care about, using that test photo.
Delete the test photo from your photo library, including from the Recently Deleted album.
Check back a day or two later to see if your test shortcut still shows the picture you assigned.
My guess is that the shortcut will retain a copied version of the photo, but I have never tried the experiment (or even made a shortcut to launch an application).
In what way have you involved a particular picture with a shortcut? Perhaps knowing that would enable somebody here to answer your question.
