iMac running MacOS Ventura 13.6.4 and purchased Microsoft Office suite. Receiving Microsoft message that the Office suite needs to be upgraded, as I am no longer receiving security updates. How do I go about upgrading the products, as I don't see anything in the Apple store?

If you want to keep your system up to date on an ongoing basis, Office 365 subscription is the way to go. At present the cost is $69.99/year for 1 person/5 devices; or $99.99/year for family up to 6 people/5devices.
MS Office 2021 is currently $249.99. The Home & Student version is $149.99 but it does not include Outlook. And in both cases, expect support to end by the fall of 2025.

Microsoft Office is a Microsoft product, not an Apple product. The office apps in the Mac App Store require a Microsoft 365 subscription.
You can purchase a subscription or a standalone license for Microsoft Office from Microsoft.
Microsoft retired Office 2019 in Fall 2023. You should be running Office 2021 for Mac on Ventura with an Office 2021 single-purchase license. Word is currently (today) at v16.82 in the current Office 2021 suite.
Purchased Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.) for one device and am running Word v 16.73.3, retail license 2019.

Is it an Office 365 subscription? If not, what version of MS Office did you purchase ... and where did you purchase it?
