How can I transfer files from disc to hard drive?

I just need to know how to transfer files from a backup disk to my hard drive. I'm running Mojave 10.14.6. I have files on my external disk and want to move them to my hard drive so I can use the external disk to send some personal files to my sister.

PS. Why am I getting the message re: "Your post must include text. Please try again."?

can I copy Time Machine files from an external hard drive onto my Mac I am using three external hard drives with Time Machine in rotation. Time Machine and I are confused as to which HD to use next. Can I: 1) copy files FROM an external hard drive that is NTFS formatted onto an iMac (e.g., documents, JPEG and music files) and 2) then work on those files. I am NOT attempting to work on the files residing on the NTFS formatted drive or saving files from the Mac to the NTFS hard drive. Thanks,

Hey hi, connect your external disk, open Finder, locate the files, then drag and drop them into the desired location on your hard drive.

You should be able to use Finder to drag and drop the files you want to save.

There are various types of “backup disk”, using various mechanisms and tools.

One of the most common choices with macOS is Time Machine.
