sorry to butt in, but saw some posts, by Jim and hoping he may be able to assist me... do not know how to contact him directly ?
saw where you posted about
"can't use iTunes on any later MacOS"
and wondering if that is the root of my problem...all the "synching stuff" maybe not my iPod maybe my iTunes?
I'm guessing You can find my recent posts on this, a lot quicker than I could try to explain where they are ....
thanx
for Jim ...still waiting to see if you could weigh in ,,, though "finder" did pop up a few times during my efforts, that no longer happens and opening it, when any of the iPods / nanos are connected, does not help ?!?
thnx
Hi,
I’m not sure that I can give you any further advice that has already been provided by turingtest2 who is probably the best source of advice to help you solve your problem.
I can only add that in the last 2 months, I have started using iPod classics again. I was a bit of a struggle to get them to sync. I ended up resetting and erasing the older one from 2007. I eventually was able to sync music using finder and music app.
Jim
thanx Jim
yes, Turingtest has been helping off/on for a LOT of stuff over the years ... I think I wore him out
so earlier today.... I went to my local Best Buy...
they were, after a bit of rig-a-ma-roll able to reset the pod , I was lucky that a tech working at that time,
was "sort of excited" to see an iPod classic ! however, when I asked him if I should try synching..
w/ my Mac iTunes, he said.. "I wouldn't" .... that You have been using Your classic again,
has me a little hopeful...however,
if not already noticed ,,
I am soo Much Less Technically proficient than any of those trying to help, I get lost
w/ a Lot / Most of what is suggested ....
the 55 + years of music collections that make up my library, I want available,
when I want how I want and in the simplest form possible... simplest to access that is
for so long the iPod classic was that answer...
my thought now, and sorry to take the long way to say it...is this;
get a windows laptop, and put an older version of iTunes on it ,
one that is not going to make me be more proficient that I can be,
get all my music in that
( I do back up all the tunes on an ext drive)
and move forward from there ...
that my older 2007 120gb pod when I began all this, synched w/o issue,?!?
2 min later the newer 160gb A1238... was immediately erased of all music when connected ?!?!? ...
and now, my 2 nanos are not recognized and I don't dare try again, to connect the 120gb model for fear of ???
FINDER,,,,at various times did come on my screen and gave me prompts , for 1 of the Nanos, and the 160gb...but, it never allowed me to get any further...so not knowing...I stopped ...
Music App, you refer to ? is that something different than my Apple Music , I suspect not....
somewhere I read "iTunes Match" could potentially be an answer ...but.... again,
limited tech proficiency in general, has me wondering if I should chance it ?
the other thought I have wondered about, in lieu of the classic, one of the
"iTunes compatible MP3 players"
a walkman, and a few others I have seen listed in articles...could that be an option that perhaps works better ?
I appreciate Very Much the time / effort and assistance in figuring this stuff out...
thanx
Hi,
You can’t install iTunes on latest MacOS. Use music app instead and finder to sync.
