Changing the default timeline clip appearance in Final Cut Pro

The more I use Final Cut, the shorter it defaults the timeline clip view. I have attempted a couple times to reset the program by starting it with command option. But my timeline clips keep getting smaller, and eventually they are super small even maxed out by the slide bar. Any ideas on how to adjust them to keep the slide bar lower? This is where the bar sits after a reset, but my clips keep getting smaller and smaller:

That top slider scales the timeline horizontally.

If you want the clips to be taller you need to use the second slider - which is about half way on your screenshot, it is NOT pushed to the max!

What happens if you use the keyboard shortcut Command-plus?

Does it not enlarge the timeline either?

To scale the timeline clip horizontally, use the shortcut Tom mentioned.
To scale the clip vertically, press shift+⌘plus or minus.
To change the ratio of sound waveform and thumbnail, press control+option+▲ or ▼

*Effective keys vary depending on the keyboard.

Use Cmd plus and minis to zoom in and out of the timeline. What version are you using?

⌘Plus=Z ⌘Minus=option+Z

I remembered, there was also this shortcut.

Version 10.7.1

I now have it cranked all the way to max, and my clips are 'normal' view. I tried your zoom method, and they do get taller and shorter, but the length is still getting smaller and smaller every time I open the program.

I don't have an issue with the height of the clip I'm using. What I am having issues with is the size of the clip horizontally. Please read my initial question/issue carefully. The top slider is what appears to NOT be functioning for me. I need help with the program adjusting that slider disproportionally to what my desired clip view is.
