Will a 45 W charger damage my iPad Pro?

If I charge my iPad Pro with a 45 W charger, will it damage anything?

Assuming that you are using a compatible USB Power Adapter, a healthy iPad will come to no harm. Your iPad will only draw the power that it needs to effectively charge.


iPad models with a Lightning port typically draw 12W (i.e., 2.4A @5V), although some are capable of drawing more power to rapidly charge. By contrast, iPad models featuring a USB-C port support USB PD (Power Delivery) - and will draw more power, typically 20W or more, using a higher charging voltage.
