I have two homepod minis that I have just purchased.I have also updated my IOS on both my iphone and apple tv.Ehen I go to audio output on my apple tv I cannot view my homepod minis.Also my TV is a sony bravia 4k tv.

Seeing from your signature that you're using an Apple TV HD, you can't use it to set up home theater audio with HomePod or HomePod mini. See requirements in Set up home theater audio with HomePod or HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K - Apple Support. You can connect them temporarily to Apple TV HD from the Control Center, similar to all other AirPlay devices.
Can I connect my HomePod mini's to the Apple TV app?
