How come I can’t own download updates

It won’t let me download updates for games that are free

Enter this info Add a payment method to your Apple ID - Apple Support you're not charged.

The Apple Support Article states that in step 2 that you may need to have a valid payment method to update apps even for free ones.

If you can’t download or update apps - Apple Support

This is most often a result of not having a valid payment on your account. It is a requirement to have one, even to download or update even free apps. Follow the guidance razmee209 provided in the link to add a payment method.
