How to retrieve Apple receipts for the last 6 years

How distant is "years ago"? If you bought the Mac from Apple's Online Store you should be able to retrieve a copy of the invoice from there.
Go to the Apple website in your country. At the foot of the page you will see the Account category, and under this label will be several options. Click on Apple Store Account. You will be asked to use your Apple ID to sign into the store.
Click on Account > Apple Store Account
This will present a page of your account details. In the centre of the page you will find the label ‘Your Orders’. Under this label click on ‘See Your Order History’
In the next page choose an item and this will open another page with the details of the order for that item. You will see at the top of this page the link: View Invoice.
Click on this and a copy of the invoice will present, and you can print or save this to your device.
Additionally, you will have been sent a copy of the invoice by email. Presuming that it remains in your email you could find it if you search for it.
If you purchased the Mac from an authorised reseller you will have to find the receipt in your records. It's unlikely that a reseller will have kept copies.
