How to remove Apple ID on older iPad mini

My mom gave me her old iPad mini but she doesn't remember the password. I tried to restore it factory settings and I can't bypass the activation Lock Screen. Can anyone help?

You will need to the Apple ID and password used on it. There is no way around Activation lock.

Maybe the iPad Mini is using a different Apple ID or has already been removed from the account.

Yes, if you can provide the receipt from an Apple Store or authorized apple reseller, Apple can help you remove the Apple ID from the device.
