The battery health of my new iPhone 12 is decreasing fast

I just bought this iPhone 12 brand new sealed, it was dead in its box though! I’ve just used this phone for 4weeks now the battery health has decreased from 100% to 90%. I am so worried rn. What could have been the issue?

New or not, it likely sat in a sealed box for quite some time. iPhone 12 was released in 2020 and discontinued in 2023. And the fact the battery was fully depleted when unboxed was really not good for the battery. Lion batteries do not do well being fully depleted and can refuse to accept a charge again if left in that state for an extended period of time. What you're seeing in battery health was affected by that. There is really nothing you can about this at this point. When the battery declines to 80%, it will be time to pay Apple to replace the battery.

Since you likely didn't purchase the phone from Apple or an actual Apple Authorized Seller, there's more chance your warranty is expired on the phone as well.

Apple discontinued the iPhone 12 in September of 2023. If your phone was "new", that means that it sat in a warehouse for at least 5 months. It could have been much longer. That would not have been good for the battery.

That......is likely the issue here.

But, the good news might be that Apple will replace the battery if the Battery Health falls to less than 80% in the first year of use.

It might not be good news, if they bought the phone from a 3rd party seller and the battery is no longer valid. Remember, the warranty begins the day the phone leaves Apple or an Apple Authorized Sellers inventory. In order to get Apple to replace the battery in the first 12 months if the health dips to 80% or less, the phone would have to still be within warranty.
