Can I edit my iCloud email settings on iMac

Cloud email works fine on my iPhone.

However it refuses to go online on my iMac.

In apple mail  when I do a check on account info on my iCloud email account it reveals the server settings are:

imap.gmail.com

smtp.gmail.com

These don’t look right.

Is there a way to edit this in Sonoma 14.4?

If not, please how do I rectify this, preferably without losing my iCloud emails on iPhone?

Many thanks for any help.

iMac 24″, macOS 14.4

Thanks, I didn't know that.

I did the same as you and I'm getting another "Incoming Mail Server": p33-imap.mail.me.com. The "Outgoing Mail server" is not an issue; mine is also different.

So, your "Incoming Mail Server" is definitively wrong. I would suggest to remove the iCloud mail account by clicking the menu bar and going to Mail > Settings > Accounts, selecting the iCloud account in the sidebar and clicking the "-" icon at the bottom of the sidebar. Do not worry; your emails will still be available on the server (and once you recreate the account on your Mac; see below).

Then, click on the "+" icon at the same location, select iCloud and click Continue. Follow any other addition prompt to complete the addition of your iCloud email account.

Hi 6x6. Thanks for getting back to me.

When I click on the "-" icon bottom of the sidebar I get this popup.

I'm not sure how to continue.

I may have replied to myself!

You did not but do not worry, even if you did, everyone on the thread would be notified by email of your reply.

Your screenshot shows indeed the right email address (and the right icon) but as you mentioned, the server settings are wrong; they point to a Gmails server instead of the iCloud servers.

I don't recognize the screenshot. Are you using the Mail application or another application on your Mac to view your emails?

To make sure I wouldn't lead you astray, I tried it (the whole way). Clicking on "Internet Accounts" brings you to the System Settings > iCloud page. There you'll see "iCloud Mail"; Deactivate it. Wait a minute and reactivate it to bring the iCloud account back in Mail.

My account settings in "Get Account Info" stayed the same. I hope they change for you, in particular the "Incoming Mail Server" field. It should no longer point at "imap.gmail.com."

If this setting hasn't changed, I'm afraid I won't be able to help any further. In which case, don't hesitate to contact Apple Support as iCloud Mail is a service that Apple supports.

Many thanks for your help.

in the pic I uploaded the Cloud account "xxxxx@gmail.com" is my Apple ID and a very critical email address.

I'll wait until the morning to try what you suggested.

Again I appreciate your support.

You are welcome.

I understood very well that your Apple ID is a Gmail address. Mine is also an email address from another provider (not my iCloud email address). I had absolutely no problem removing the iCloud Mail account from Mail and adding it again. My iCloud email address did not change at all after the procedure.
