Moving all storage to icloud+

Hi,

my storage was full, so I decided to purchase icloud+ which gave me 50GB but now I am confused if I am able to move all storage there, for example, Whatsapp files as they take most of my storage on the phone.

Please advice!

Thank you!

You can move stuff from applications that supports the use of iCloud, an example would be photos by enabling the "Sync this iPhone" option in iCloud, under the "Photos" row.

If you wish to move data to iCloud, applications that supports iCloud by default will show up in your iCloud settings under "Apps using iCloud". Enabling the application inside the iCloud settings will enable the application to shift unnecessary data or data that can be stored in iCloud automatically. Do expect this process to take some time depending on your network connection settings, speed and the app itself.

Do note that you cannot move apps completely to iCloud and still expect to use it as is. Apps that you frequently use like WhatsApp can be backed up to iCloud, but cannot run off iCloud as iCloud is a online storage service meant for storing of data and not to use live.

I think I see your problem. Your phone's memory is full. Like WongWJian said, iCloud storage won't help you there. You can't extend your phone's internal RAM with added iCloud storage. One thing you might want to consider, if you have a lot of photos and videos is to get the Google Photos app and sync your photos/videos to the Google cloud. Then you can remove some photos/videos on your phone to free up space and keep them available in Google Photos. This is unlike using iCloud for photos/videos, where deleting them on your phone also deletes them in iCloud (because they are synced to your phone). This is what I do.
