I have changed my password to my Instagram account and its asking for a 6 digit authentication code i have no idea what this code is i cant remember setting one up. can i find out what it is?

You will need to check with Instagram. That is not a code provided by Apple. Most online services have an option to enable two-factor authentication to the account for that service. When you enable it on each service, you will need to provide another form of authentication. This all depends on how you set the account up. It is something that is enabled with the online account, not something set on your phone.
