All Projects and Clips in Browser disappeared

I deleted a clip in the timeline and did not realize that audio was attached to it. I pressed Cmd-Z (undo) and it didn't work. After hitting Cmd-Z several times, I noticed that "Channel EQ" was spinning. I expected it to stop, but it did not. Then, I noticed that ALL of the projects and clips in the browser were gone -- blank screen.

I am virtually certain that FCP is stuck and will likely not come back no matter how long I sit here. I am VERY worried that my LIbrary will be trashed after putting in 20 hours of work.

If anybody knows what is going on, I would like to know. If nobody does, I would appreciate it if somebody knows how to duplicate the Library or whatever can be done to get as much of the library back after I close FCP.

(Mac Studio m2, 128 Gb RAM, Sonoma 14.2.1, 8tb ssd. Library is on Mac HD.)

I closed FCP, then I opened it by clicking on the library name in finder. Everything was fine, except for the small number of things that I had clicked Cmd-Z to undo. It was no problem at all ... but it was scary - worried that all of my hours of work could be gone!

Thanks, Alchroma and LocaAlicia!

I have never made backups before, but it is a great tool for peace of mind! (I am relatively new to FCP. I had heard of FCP Backups, but never considered using it. FCP is remarkably good at not losing what you have done!)

Please follow the advice given by Alchroma. It should be there if you check where you originally saved the library. Getting a beach ball does not mean deleting the library. It is saved unless you manually delete it.

If you cannot open it, please use the backup file in the movie folder:Backups. Make it a habit to take backups on a regular basis and set up Time Machine.

FYI: FCPro creates auto backups every 15 minutes or so while you work.

Also having a Time Machine backup on another drive is wise.

If I’m working on something important I will manually copy a backup to a separate hard drive, or two, with everything on it just in case my Mac goes down.

Backups are like insurance. No one likes the process of acquiring and paying for it but if you need it in the case of a disaster, it makes the effort all worthwhile.
