Mac BlueTooth Mouse and Track Pad eating up batteries

I have replaced on average the AA batteries in my Mac Mouse and Trackpad about every two-three weeks. They used to last for 6+ months. Is there a setting or something that I need to change to prevent the batteries from being depleted every two weeks. I assume it has something to do with Bluetooth connection not sleeping or something like that? Please help. I love my trackpad but don't want to be filling up landfills with extra dead batteries!!!!

Thanks

Joe

Open Activity Monitor in Utilities>Energy tab, sort on Preventing Sleep, any listed?

Open Activity Monitor in Utilities> View>All Processes, Energy tab, sort on Energy Impact.

Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?
