FaceTime calls cut in and out when I wear AirPod pro and put my iPhone in my pocket

I have a problem with the connection of AirPod and iPhone.

when I call someone on FaceTime and put my iPhone in my pocket it’s seem the connection between iPhone and AirPod dropped and it get cut in and out for both side. I went to Apple Store last week I thought problem is my AirPod but they said my AirPod works fine but the genius on Apple Store told me to try deactivate FaceTime and active again and put my cellular option on 5G on ( not 5G auto). So I have no problem for 1 day but after that the problem is back.

I have iPhone 15 pro max with AirPod pro 2nd g

and I only have this problem with FaceTime and Apple Music for example if I’m on the call on the regular phone number everything is fine.

I tried resetting my network on iPhone resetting AirPod but not helped.

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 17

Having your iPhone in your pocket is a strong possibility for Bluetooth interference with AirPods Pro, especially depending on what's in the pocket.

Here's why:

  • Body Blocking: Our bodies are mostly water, which weakens Bluetooth signals. Putting your iPhone in a pocket directly next to your AirPods Pro can weaken the signal strength.
  • Material Interference: Certain fabrics, especially those with metallic threads or thick layers, can block Bluetooth signals. This is why some people experience connection issues when their phone is in a backpack or specific types of pockets.

Here are some ways to address this pocket-related interference:

  • Try a different pocket: If possible, use a different pocket on your opposite side from the AirPods Pro. This increases the distance between the iPhone and your body, potentially improving the signal.
  • Use a phone clip or armband: Consider carrying your phone on a belt clip or armband to keep it closer to your AirPods Pro and away from your body.
  • Experiment with case materials: If you suspect your phone case might be blocking the signal, try using your iPhone without a case during a call and see if the problem improves. Some thinner, non-metallic cases might be a better option.

By minimizing the obstacles between your iPhone and AirPods Pro, you should be able to achieve a stronger and more stable connection, even when carrying your phone in your pocket. Sometimes, other devices or objects can interfere with Bluetooth signals. Try using your AirPods in a different location to see if the issue persists. Additionally, ensure there are no obstructions between your iPhone and AirPods.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Disable Automatic Ear Detection: This might help prevent the connection from dropping if your AirPods become loose in your ear. Go to Settings > Bluetooth > Tap the "i" icon next to your AirPods > Turn off "Automatic Ear Detection".
  • Try Wired Headphones: Make a FaceTime call with wired headphones to see if the issue persists. This can help isolate if the problem lies with the AirPods connection.
