Excel files saving to ICloud as “File” file type.

When I try to save an excel file to my ICloud, it saves as a “File” file type and random numbers and letters (eg. E8C27C00) and not the original name of the spreadsheet. I can still open the file by going into excel and when looking for the file I change it to look for “all file types” but then it opens with a warning message asking whether I trust the source it came from. I can then save it as an .xlsx file and rename but when I exit the spreadsheet whole process starts again (ie. saves as “File” file type). Anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it ?
