Remove the Vertical Line that runs along forwarded or replied to email text

Does anyone know if there is an adjustment that I can make so that forwarded emails don't have a vertical line along the text? I much prefer the horizontal line that Outlook inserts between emails.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4), Mac Mail

Hello Deena, welcome to apple discussions,

If you are looking to change the vertical to horizontal then you are out of luck with mail. maybe in some future update. at this time you are stuck with either the vertical line or none at all as suggested above.

Go to the Mail.app Preferences, Writing and uncheck "Increase quote level". Note that I'm translating from Spanish, so the preference may not be called literally as "Increase quote level".
