Shrinking screen on MacBook Air

Why does the screen on my MacBook Air shrink slightly when the mouse is clicked? Clicking the mouse once again returns my home screen to full size. Besides shrinking, any document I might have open retreats way off the left side of the screen, but it too returns after one more mouse click! Is there a purpose for this feature?

Can't zoom in. After I updated the MacBook, some downloads and personalized things are gone and the whole screen is zoomed out. Like where the top tabs with the file, edit, view, history, etc. are shrunk. Every app or website I go to is all small and I tried zooming, but it only zooms on the image on the screen and not the whole thing. I regret even updating and whenever I close the MacBook, it wouldn't turn off and I have to shut it off and when I start it to use it again, it will bring me to a login page as if I got it new and unrecognizable to me. Please help.

Reduce Size of Chrome in Full Screen Mode I am operating Ventura 13.0.1 on MacBook. When I enlarge Chrome to full screen (by clicking the green button), the red/yellow/green buttons disappear altogether. At that point, I cannot get Chrome to fill less of my screen or to close. No amount of hovering on the upper left of the screen brings back the buttons. I am sure there is a simple way to manage the size of Chrome and I will be grateful to a som more knowledgeable user will take the time to explain it. Ron
