Camera at sun rise

So my window is directly in the way of of the sun at sunrise in the mornings i was taking pictures of my dog but im worried i could damage my sensos in my brand new 15 Pro so i was wondering how long would my camera have to be in sunlight to cause any damage

There are lots of warnings about looking directly at the sun during an eclipse, for instance, because of the damage it can cause to your eyes, and the same applies to a camera. But it's not the eclipse that's the problem-- it's the temptation to stare at the sun. We all glance at the sun all the time, but we blink and look away, so there's no damage. Same for your phone-- don't point it at the sun-- it would probably ruin the picture, anyway. But accidentally swinging by or catching the sun in the corner won't hurt.

Try not to point a camera straight at the sun. Also take care not to leave mobile device in direct sunlight or other places where it might get hot because that is bad for the battery.


...BTW Apollo 12 (Nov 1969) had the first color television camera taken by an Apollo mission to the lunar surface, but transmission was lost after Bean accidentally pointed the camera at the Sun and its sensor was destroyed.
