Is there any monitor requirement for IPad external display?

I'm using the M1 ipad air gen5 with ipados 17.4.

Rencently l've been trying to connect my ipad to my samsung monitor but it keep mirroring my ipad rather than extend it. The setting shows that it is connected to the monitor and the stage manager is on, but the arrangement button in the display setting never show up. I've tried to change the dock and the HDMI cable I'm currently using but nothing change. It works perfectly on other monitor but i just can't connect to my samsung monitor.

Is this an IPad things or its the monitor's problem? If so, is there any requirement for monitor and how can i fix this problem? or perhaps APPLE just hate Samsung?

Some other contributors report that the dedicated Magic Keyboard for iPad, with integral Touchpad, does not trigger availability of Stage Manager in iPadOS 17.4.

An external mouse (e.g., Apple Magic Mouse) or external Trackpad (e.g., Apple Magic Trackpad) does trigger availability of Stage Manager and associated settings for an external monitor.

As already outlined, detection relies upon connection of the external Keyboard and Mouse/Trackpad before connecting an external monitor.

Presumably you have updated your iPad to iPadOS 17.4.

Be aware that for the Stage Manager extended desktop view to be available, you must connect an external Keyboard (Bluetooth or wired) and a Mouse or supported Trackpad before connecting to the external monitor.

Unless both a Keyboard and Mouse/Trackpad are detected, Stage Manager for the external monitor is disabled - regardless of the iPad's screen mirroring setting.

Hi Beni,
First of all why would you try to connect a APPLE device to a Samsung device???????????

You have clearly missed the point of the OP's post. The iPad is being connected to and used with an external monitor - which just happens to be of Samsung origin.

The described issue has absolutely nothing to do with the manufacturer of the monitor.
