Apple TV remote gen3

I lost my remote for almost 2 years, LoL. I just found it and I don’t think it will accept a charge. Is there anything I can do? Purchase a new remote? Or do I need a whole new Apple TV?

Identify your Apple TV remote - Apple Support

The Siri Remote (1st, 2nd, 3rd generation) has a rechargeable battery.

The legacy/old style Apple Remote (aluminum) has a replaceable battery.

Charge the Siri Remote - Apple Support

How to replace the battery in your legacy Apple Remote - Apple Support

➔ A completely depleted, then recharged remote, may need to be paired again.

Old style Apple Remote (aluminum) will need to be linked again after battery replacement.

If the Siri Remote doesn’t work after charging (and pairing), then you may consider requesting “battery service”. That should result in replacement of the remote at half the cost (or zero cost with AppleCare+).

The Siri Remote (3rd generation) is also available as a separate product.

Replacement remotes will have to be paired or linked before use.
