Apple Support have an article online (link below) about vision health with Screen Distance which encourages you to move your iPad farther away if you’ve held it closer than 12 inches for an extended period. That may be the feature you want to turn off ?

Seems you might try turning it off in the same settings it can be turned on:
- ie: Go to Settings
> Screen Time. - Tap Screen Distance, then turn off Screen Distance.
