Apple TV HDR Problem

Hi there,

Apple TV has an issue in regards to HDR Mode playback.

Apple TV will default to HDR mode for all content, making your TV go into the HDR mode even when SDR is played.

It should normally default to SDR Playback. The Apple TV should ONLY SWITCH TO HDR when some HDR content is played and ONLY THEN ! I cannot get it to work this way. Once in SDR Mode it will stay in SDR mode even when HDR is played. The only option is to select HDR mode but then SDR content is also played in HDR mode thus burning up the cells in my OLED twice as fast.

Anyone else having similar issues ?

To get what you want, set Apple TV video format to SDR and set Match Dynamic Range. Then SDR gets displayed as SDR and HDR gets displayed in HDR. That is how it should work.
