How to record text to speech from Pages to an audio file

I want to record a new audio file with a Siri voice from inside Pages or maybe Keynote. Is it possible?

I read around already and saw the Terminal application 'say' but that is kind of clunky.

Thanks for suggestions.

Your profile still shows that you are on macOS El Capitan (10.11). Is that the current operating system?

An Automator solution does not give you access to any Siri voices, and a Monterey or later Shortcut solution gives you access to three different Siri voices when selecting text from Pages or Keynote. Haven't tried it with Keynote though.

Here is a Shortcut solution that takes selected text in Pages v13.2 on macOS 14.4 and outputs a 48Khz .mra audio file to the Desktop by using a ^⌘V keyboard shortcut.

The iCloud link that you can open in Shortcuts is here.
