iPad Wallpaper not rotating properly

I just bought an iPad Air 5th gen, and I changed the home screen wallpaper to a picture in my gallery. Now all of a sudden when I rotate the iPad from portrait to landscape, all of the icons rotate naturally, but the wallpaper won’t rotate. It freezes for one or two seconds and then snaps to the correct position, it’s really jarring and annoying. With the Apple stock wallpapers, it wasn’t an issue. Does anyone know a solution to get my home screen to rotate the right way? Or am I just not able to use anything but stock wallpapers?

Try adding another wallpaper to your iPad - and test.


If the problem remains, perform a forced restart - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:


Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.
