When I am in a Microsoft document, such as Word, I suddenly have my cursor jumping to other pages or hightlighting a blue box in random places that I can move with my Tab button, but other times, I cannot add spaces when I am typing. This is very annoying and I need help understanding what is happening and how to fix this. (PS I am new to MacOs)

And I have macOS 14.4 and Office 2021 for Mac Home and Business installed. I have none of your issues. I suspect your trackpad sensitivity is too high or you have an article of clothing brushing onto the trackpad. See System Settings : Accessibility : Pointer Control for adjustments.
Don't let your macOS version get behind. Update via System Settings : General : Software Update. There may be features in a current release of Word that assume you have done the preceding sentence that may incorporate bug fixes to older versions of macOS.
