my son tried to et his phone where I couldnt see where he is and in the process completely messed up his location settings. HOw can we restore it back to working. he cant even turn find my iphone off as the location setting is incorrectly not noticing the phone is in our home

The 1 hour delay is caused by Stolen Device Protection but he should be able to use face or touch ID tonturn off Find My. However that will remove activation lock - not something to remain off for long
It will take a couple of weeks traveling around to recognise home as a familiar location
