Merging Documents folders from iCloud and local drive

I used to have my hard drive in iCloud but was having problems syncing, so I stopped doing that a while back. What I did not realize initially was that when I would save a file, sometimes it was saving to the Documents folder in iCloud and sometimes locally. User error, I know! my question is can I merge the two Documents folders so that the local one contains all the files without having to look in each internal folder to check the contents and manually move files?
