Is there a way to transfer the AppleCare+ to the new MacBook?

My dad's been thinking of getting a Macbook and he's offered to take my current Macbook and upgrade me to a new M3 model. My current Macbook has AppleCare+, will this stay with the device after it's transferred to my dad's AppleID, and is there a way to transfer the AppleCare+ to the new MacBook or do I have to get a new AppleCare plan for it?

You cannot transfer AppleCare+ to a new device.

You may be able to transfer it to a new owner: Transfer your AppleCare plan - Apple Support

or cancel it for a partial refund: Cancel or change the payment method for your AppleCare plan - Apple Support
